Desjardins Cyber Attack Much Worse Than First Thought

The Desjardins cyber breach is far worse than it initially seemed according to a new statement from the company.

In a statement released by Guy Cormier, the president and chief executive of Desjardins, it was announced that over 4.2 million members had their information entirely compromised.

This number is significantly higher than the initial near-3 million figure that was released in June earlier this year. At this time, there are thought to be no additional suspects.

The ramifications of this breach will undoubtedly be felt far and wide – with a class-action lawsuit already in place against the company.

As the largest federation of credit unions in North America, it is clear that millions of people will be affected by this breach for time to come.
